About

SIGHT was established in 2017 as an institute under the auspices of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, an independent, non-governmental organisation whose overall objective is to promote the sciences and strengthen their influence in society. Founded in 1739, the Academy is a multi-sectoral institution, mainly based on its ten classes in various academic fields, a structure that will serve SIGHT in its endeavours to tackle global health with an evidence based interdisciplinary approach.

SIGHT has a small secretariat at the premises of the Academy. As SIGHT is part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, SIGHT does not have a board of its own. However, there is a designated SIGHT Advisory Committee, SAC, to support with strategic advice to the management of SIGHT in relation to long-term development and funding of the institute.

SIGHT has a number of activities as presented throughout this website, including networks, programmes, projects as well as management of the annual SIGHT Award process. All activities are managed, administered and quality assured by the SIGHT Secretariat.
