What we do
Youth participation driven by cross-disciplinary collaboration is a crucial driving force to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and transform global health. The goal of the network is to empower student organisations to be bigger than the sum of their parts. We create synergies between our members, provide them with support and give them a strong, collective voice while forming a bridge between students and the other SIGHT networks.
The Student Organisations Network is composed of fifteen ambitious and engaged member organisations led by students from throughout Sweden and beyond. In total, our members count over 2000 affiliated students with more than 20 nationalities. We are always looking for new active members so be in touch if you’d like to discuss joining us.

We work on both a local and national level within Sweden, organising a range of activities from seminars and workshops to podcasts and panel discussions, that raise awareness and understandning of global health and sustainable development among the public and future healthcare professionals.
We also advocate for health equity and sustainability through the societal debate, both directly and through the Society of Medicine. SOGH is a Swedish non-profit and non-governmental organization comprised of students and young professionals who share a passion to contribute to global health through evidence-based actions.
Together with our local and international partners, we engage in conversations with local communities to co-develop projects that bring a concrete positive change and take environmental and economic sustainability into account. While supporting projects both in Sweden and in low-income countries, we use our virtual and physical platforms to bring awareness about some of the most neglected health topics, such as women’s reproductive health.

Mother and Child Health Association (MACHA) is a Swedish non-profit organisation that works towards improving women’s and children’s health in a local and global perspective. MACHA’s vision is a world where everyone is given the same opportunities and to a life in freedom, dignity and health. Equal conditions, equal opportunities.
In many parts of the world, women are discriminated against on multiple fronts; they are often deprioritized compared to boys and men in education, healthcare, and food. They are of greater risk of being exposed to violence, rape and child marriage. Due to social and cultural norms, they often have a decreased mobility in society and in public space.
MACHA works towards increasing the interest and knowledge about Global Health issues amongst students and people in general. This is mainly done by organizing events, lectures, and seminars.

IFMSA-Sweden’s vision is that all future doctors have expertise in professional treatment, see the importance of preventive public health work and act interprofessionally for equal care.
IFMSA-Sweden is a non-partisan and non-union organisation based on non-profit involvement. We create forums and opportunities for cooperation in health and health-related issues, both locally, nationally and internationally.
As an organization, we take our responsibility as future healthcare professionals by actively participating in the health policy debate. In addition, we inspire and empower our members to act for equal and fair care of the highest possible quality at all levels of society.
We are a complement to medical education and other health-related educations, and provide knowledge and competence development to students where the education is lacking. Our work provides future healthcare professionals with the tools and the ability to act professionally, both in society and in the meeting with the patient.
IFMSA-Sweden is a non-profit association that works for peace and improved health both locally and globally and aims to construct a network between all the world’s healthcare students. We belong to and work closely with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, which is represented in some 100 countries with around 1.3 million members.
The IFMSA, founded in 1951, is one of the world’s oldest and largest student-run organisations. For more than 65 years, IFMSA has worked locally, nationally and internationally on human rights and public health issues and is recognized by the UN, WHO and WMA, among others. In addition, we have a unique exchange program in clinical medicine and medical research together with a variety of universities around the world.
IFMSA represents the opinions and ideas of future health professionals in the field of global health, and works in collaboration with external partners. IFMSA builds capacity through training, project and exchanges opportunities while embracing cultural diversity so as to shape a sustainable and healthy future. Examples of our active projects in Sweden are projects on disaster medicine, SRHR-education for teenagers, information about Swedish healthcare and health for immigrants, mental health projects and more.
In Sweden, we are present in all seven places with medical education and we are constantly growing in size, passion and competence. We are fully run by our approximately 1,500 members, so if you have any idea for how we can make the world a better place, make your voice heard with us!

Promoting more sustainable operations within student associations and representing student interests in the area of sustainability internally and externally.
Various projects under SSG aim to cover all possible topics within sustainability and work actively to create awareness and action among students and large actors in various industries. By engaging in/hosting multiple national and international events, we try to bring awareness to global health through practical aspects like case competitions and workshops. We hope to help the network to learn more themselves while gaining a larger audience.
We at SSD@KI have teamed up to raise awareness on the sustainability crisis and emphasise the urgency of action and the need for increased self-reflection.
We define sustainability as an approach of using minimal resources to reach a goal and taking into account the well-being of generations to come, whether it be creation of less wasteful and harmful means of production or a more equal society.
We promote a more sustainable (future- and planet-proof) way of living and aim to address more than just the climate, while showing how easily one can live more sustainably!
We think that a sustainable mindset holds that we are aware of inequalities, acknowledge privileges, and yet make sustainability accessible to everyone.
We want to make an appeal to individual responsibility in an optimistic and fun way, and increase general awareness on various sustainability-related topics.
We aim to be open and welcoming, to inspire, motivate, and promote equality (gender, educational, financial, …).
Lastly, we promote well-being (mental & physical) and prioritise providing reliable information to our network.
We are a group of Bachelor and Master students at Karolinska Institutet who are passionate about making a change for the better and who are willing to devote their free time to that cause.
Our projects are focused on bringing the issues related to sustainable development to light and offering solutions that can be implemented on individual and institutional levels. The events that we organise are tackling different problems that fall under various SDGs, for example fast fashion or sea pollution. However, as a committee based at one of the best medical universities in the world, we put strong emphasis on how the notion of sustainability is related to health. In our events(especially seminars and workshops) we strive to underline the interconnectivities between a just social system, proper environmental policies, considerate economic regulations, and our health.
Being part of this network makes it possible for us to share ideas and knowledge and work together to improve the health and lives of thousands of people.
