By the end of December 2022, the Swedish Institute for Global Health Transformation (SIGHT) is leaving the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for a new phase. Based on collaboration in the SIGHT University Network, four Swedish universities intend to develop a joint centre during 2023.
SIGHT wants to thank all its collaborators since its inception in January 2017. As a scientific facilitator for interdisciplinary research and intersectoral work, SIGHT and its partners have jointly contributed to a reinforced resource base in Sweden and the international global health arena.

SIGHT’s purpose is to promote an interdisciplinary approach, to strengthen and bridge Swedish research and education, and to provide a scientific basis for national and transnational collaborative policy work, in the field of global health. First awarded by Familjen Einhorns stiftelse (the Einhorn Family Foundation) in 2017, the Einhorn SIGHT Award recognizes outstanding global health research work in low- and middle-income countries. On November 22, a new award recipient will be announced.

Through SIGHT Student Network there is a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation between different student groups. SIGHT can be the enabling stepping stone for students passionate about global health, regardless of discipline. By working together with students SIGHT not only gains crucial perspective of students, but is also able to introduce a truly disciplinary global health approach to to leaders of tomorrow.
SIGHT has a small secretariat at the premises of the Academy. As SIGHT is part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, SIGHT does not have a board of its own. However, there is an interim Scientific Advisory Committee.The organogram indicates that SIGHT will be based on a solid foundation of partnerships and collaborations.
The purpose of SIGHT is to use an interdisciplinary approach to promote Swedish research and education, and to provide a scientific basis for policy work in the field of global health.
